Guitar stands and mounting racks are an essential part of any studio engineer, musician, DJ, or roadie’s equipment. For studio engineers, mounting racks provide a great way to organize and display multiple guitars. They also make it easier to access each guitar without having to constantly move them around. For musicians, DJs, and roadies, having a guitar stand on hand makes it easier to quickly switch instruments during a performance. They also provide a secure way to store and transport instruments while travelling.
Guitar stands and mounting racks offer stability and durability for equipment, making them perfect for those constantly on the go. Their lightweight designs make them easy to transport and set up, and their quick and easy access to instruments eliminates the need to fumble around in a crowded bag or storage case.
Overall, guitar stands and mounting racks are an invaluable piece of equipment for any musician, studio engineer, DJ, or roadie. Not only do they provide a safe and secure way to store and transport instruments, but they also help protect them from damage and keep them in good playing condition. With their lightweight designs and quick and easy set up, guitar stands and mounting racks are an essential piece of gear for any musician's toolkit.
Are guitar stands necessary?
Yes. Think of a guitar stand as legs for your guitar. How long could you hold your balance standing on your head?
Can the foam on a guitar stand damage my guitar?
There are 2 ways the foam on a guitar stand damages your guitar.
1. You have a guitar with a nitro finish. This type of finish is uncommon on a modern guitar but is extremely popular on older guitars. But this finish is really susceptible to scuffing and foam padding often sticks to it.
2. The foam has a gloss finish. The gloss finish will often start to flake off over time and stick to your guitar. The good news here is that there is an easy fix to solve both of these problems. Put a lightweight, soft, dust-free towel in between your guitar and the stand. Cloth baby diapers work exceptionally well for this. Terry cloth and dish towels should be avoided because they usually have a rough texture.
Is it okay to leave my guitar on a stand all of the time?
This depends on the environment. If you live by yourself or there are only adults in the house, sure. If you throw a lot of parties, have kids, or like playing fetch with your dog in your house, absolutely not. Even the most stable guitar stands can be knocked over.
